A Crazy Weekend

This weekend will go down as quite the crazy one for us.  We started Friday night off by the girls playing "beauty shop".  Little did we know that Gianna had gotten out scissors and cut off a lot of Evie's hair.  Once we realized what was happening I rushed her to the salon.  The nice girl there decided to give her "face framing layers" so we wouldn't have to cut off as much as I thought we would.

My mom has moved in with us.  I'm an only child, thus my girls are her only grandchildren.  It's always been understood that she'd move wherever we are, and she decided now was that time.  She might, someday, get a place here (or wherever we move to next), but for now we will all be content with her staying here.

She was set to arrive at about 6pm Saturday night.  About 10 minutes before she got her Evie accidentally shut Gianna's finger in our back door.  As soon as we saw the blood and mangled finger I knew we needed to head to the ER.

WARNING: GROSS PICTURE

We were at the ER 6 hours....until midnight.  The finger is broken and she had to have stitches.  She goes tomorrow to the orthopedic surgeon to have it looked at and set, and possibly re-stitched.  Thank God for anesthesia.

I will say this, that little lady is a tough old bird.  She cried while they were numbing it to remove the finger nail...all of it!!...that puffy part that kinda looks like puss is actually the bottom of her finger nail being pushed out of the skin.  Yuck.  So, they removed the whole nail so it wouldn't get infected, and stitched it up.

We got a prescription for a pain med, and we filled it, but she has never asked for it.  She says it doesn't really hurt.  She was pretty stoked she gets to stay home for at least three days from school.

She was super excited to see her Grandma when she got home.  We spent Sunday unpacking Grandma, and resting.  Evie was running a bit of a fever on Sunday, and slept horribly, which meant Mommy and Daddy slept horribly too.  So...we are ready for a little break.

Keep my sweet pea in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow when she goes to surgery.

Class of 2025

They are building a new high school down the street from our house and the elementary Gianna goes to.  If we still live here...Gianna would attend the new Carroll High School.

For a field trip this week the entire Kindergarten took a walk to the site where the school is being built.  They are the first Kindergarten class that would be attending that school some day.

Each kid had a buddy.  Notice they are boy/girl....so the girls wouldn't talk the entire way, and the boys wouldn't push each other into the street.  Smart teachers.

The Superintendent of CCISD was there to talk to them about how this would someday be the school they'd go to, and the building contractors were there to explain how they are building the school.

After they took a picture to have someday when it's time to graduate.  A lovely little memento I thought.

And, a day is never complete without some silly pictures.

Spring has Sprung

Our Easter was pretty low key.  We started off by giving the girls their easter baskets.  Then we went to church.  The past few years I have found some summery dresses on clearance for them to wear as easter dresses.  They are "girly-girls", but do not like wearing the typical easter dresses with frills and bows and whatnot.  I found these last year for $2 each.

We then headed to church.  We've found a church we enjoy here in Corpus Christi....Bay Area Fellowship.
I made Easter lunch...ham, green bean casserole, macaroni and cheese and for dessert, strawberry shortcakes.

Then the girls had some sprinkler fun.

We definitely love how warm the weather stays here.  Though Evie does say frequently she wishes it could snow here.

Love Spring Time!!!

High School Movies

Yogi and I get in these great debates over top movies, music, tv shows, etc.  all the time and what are our favorites.  After turning on Clueless yesterday we actually set down with pen and paper and discussed what are OUR top 25 high school movies of all time.  We went back and forth on what qualified them to be chosen, and it came down to....if all of these movies were on at the same time...which we would we watch first.

Money Saving Mom's Cleaning Challenge

I'm participating in Money Saving Mom's 30-Day House Cleaning Challenge this April.

You can download the Cleaning Routine link from Fresh and Organized.  We know there are only 30 days in April, but you can just get crazy and do 2 tasks in one day.

Every day Money Saving Mom will post a reminder of what task will be that day...and a check in to keep yourself on track.

What a wonderful way to get spring cleaning going.
